Privacy Policy

This policy describes information collected during a visit, the reasons it may be used, and the limited cases in which another party may receive it. By using Union County Criminal History, a visitor accepts the practices stated in this policy.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. Union County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email sent to us may be retained long enough to handle and answer it. The message is not shared beyond the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Standard technical details may be recorded when a page loads:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • Pages viewed and the length of each visit
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser name and version
  • Device IP address
  • Referring site, when one is supplied

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic information, such as popular pages and common exit points. A visitor can block cookies in browser settings, though doing so may change how some features work.

What We Do With This Data

Collected data supports the operation and maintenance of the service. It may be used for these purposes:

  • Finding and repairing errors or performance problems
  • Measuring which reference pages are useful
  • Routing a query to the selected search provider
  • Operating pages and keeping load times stable
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect inferred interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Union County Criminal History does not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes reference material about official Union County courts, police and jail channels, PATCH, PA DOC, and the Pennsylvania State Police Megan's Law Website. Visitor information is not assembled into a report about another person. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy terms govern information entered there, including their retention and sharing choices. Those practices are outside our control. Review the named provider's policy before sending a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Union County offices, Pennsylvania agencies, court portals, legal resources, or outside search providers. Once a visitor leaves this domain, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read those terms before providing personal information.

Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their systems, not ours, control that tracking.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Advertising networks serving material on the pages
  • Search providers handling a query sent through their tool
  • A government body or law-enforcement agency acting under a valid legal demand

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so those measures cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger than 18. If information from a minor is identified, it can be requested for deletion.

Your Data Rights

Applicable law may provide rights over personal data. Pennsylvania also protects criminal history dissemination through 18 Pa.C.S. § 9115, while government access requests are governed separately by the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law. Subject to the law and the data actually held, a visitor may:

  • Object to certain forms of processing
  • Request deletion of eligible personal data
  • Ask to correct inaccurate information
  • Request a copy of personal data held about them

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A new version will appear here with an updated effective date.
